Another typical easy breezy Sunday at home. I had the day off, so I did the usual, go to the movies of course. I must say I am notorious for going to the movies on Sundays because if it's opening weekend....EVERYONE is there. I'm not really a fan of big crowds, I have space issues lol. Anyways, as you all know, I'm a humongous comic book buff...and always have been. I remember the days in 3rd grade, trading my X-Men comics for Spiderman comics. Then only later to realize I wanted to keep both after the trade had finalized..usually ending in tears and lots of hugs lol.

So, after suffering a small bout of cabin fever, I headed down to the local cineplex to see what all the fuss was about. My expectations for the film were high and I'm pleasured to say that they were blown completely out of the water! The movie was simply awesome, and I know the director wanted to give it a more "realistic" feel. I simply must say that he succeeded on every standpoint. The CG was seamless, the actors were complete shoes ins for there roles and there was even a slight hint at Tony Stark's bud "War Machine"...I smell a sequel baby! This is another release that I'm anticipating once it hits DVD...I'm predicting late October-ish. So, all in all great summer blockbuster....we're already to a great start!

I couldn't wait to leave work so I could go pick this up. It's definitely been a long time coming, but it's finally here. I opted for the CE because i'm a sucker for extra packaging lol. I'll be playing this tonight so for everyone else that got it enjoy, I know I will.

I just got back from Gamestop...bringing back with me one of my more anticipated titles of 2008, "Persona 3: Fes". I must say that I was definitely surprised to see this get a release in America. I guess the original sold well enough to warrant it's release and for that I am grateful. Fes should keep me busy for awhile or at least until GTAIV is released next week...I simply cannot wait.

I almost forgot to note that I managed to go and check out Jackie Chan & Jet Li's collaborative effort "The Forbidden Kingdom". The movie' s plot was nothing particularly noteworthy. Well, simply put...it was the simple awe factor of seeing these two great martial art legends trade blows. I'm a humongous fan of both of them and seeing them on screen together was simply epic. I can't wait to get this on DVD...5 stars baby!

My Elizabethtown-Ish Experience

Today was more of a mellow day, in fact it was almost too peaceful. I slept pretty late today, I didn't home until 3:00 and it sure felt like it when I woke up.Now, backtracking I volunteered to accompany my Dad to Florida to go to a funeral for a relative I never met. I was very reluctant initially, but when I actually arrived something changed. I was enthralled with each new face that I greeted. I had a whole family that I never even knew existed. I'm regretful that I wasn't able to meet them on more cheerful terms, but the experience itself was overwhelming. I only wish that I had more time...to spend with them all. Upon my departure I felt that a part of my life had been regained or better yet found. I guess all in all it was totally worth it...I hope to return soon.

(for anyone that's seen the movie " Elizabethtown" you'll know exactly how my trip played out....except the whole hooking up with a flight attendant part...however, my girlfriend did dump me shortly before the trip...go figure.

Well, since that occurred everyone is out scurrying about trying to pick up what Geneon shows they missed since the whole catalogue is going out of print. I'm trying to pick up a few shows as well that I had on the backburner...with Fate/Stay Night being #1. I managed to find the Vol.#1 & #6 LE's. I also need to get the rest of Ergo Proxy and Shana. So, here's a farewell to you Geneon...we had some great memories.

Hola,Señors & Señoritas, Aside from the 80's Loverboy hit song reference from which the entry was titled, It's been a pretty hectic couple of weeks. Y'know with Halo 3 and everything. Contrary to what it appears, I have been playing Persona 3, and I should finish it tomorrow evening...that is if all goes well. Unfortunately, I have been deemed with the illustrious honor of working all weekend. I'm just sooooo pschyed to be working alllll weekend long. Well, here's to all the guys who will be partying, drinking and walking knee-deep in loose women this weekend. Sadly, I can't take part in the festivities.(sigh) JK it's all good. BTW here are my pick-ups for the last 2 weeks. we have Witchblade Vol.#1 (also.w box + OST), Beck Vol.#3, Air Vol.#2, Drawn Together Season 2, Knocked Up, Death Proof, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Welcome to the NHK Vol.#1....probably can't enjoy them until Monday of later.

Well, a little game called Halo 3 was released yesterday at midnight and I'm not sure if anyone has heard of it. Lol, just kidding it's the second coming...Halo 3 has arrived and it was definitely worth waiting in line 2 hours with anxious fan boys. However, I did eat @ Subway next door to pass the time while waiting. I'm really enjoying the game so far. This game is breathtakingly gorgeous there's so much detail in the environments.Myself and a few buddies tried out the 4 player co-op campaign and it's awesome. I bought the Collector's Edition and my brother bought 2 Legendary Editions...(idiot)...Well, I'm gonna play some more..see you guys/girls online.

Eternal Sonata (A.K.A Torasuti Beru Shopan no Yume, B.K.A Trusty Bell: Chopin's Dream) actually came in yesterday and I played it a little before heading to bed. This game is simply gorgeous, each scene looks as if it were painting in motion. I find myself simply stopping during exploration just to gawk at the stunning backdrops. Alright, enough about the graphics and on to the soundtrack...which is impressive in itself. The game features several compositions from Chopin and fits in very well with the story. This meshes well since the story does somewhat center around Chopin's life and death. I'm a bit of a Chopin fan to begin with so I find all the facts about his life really cool. However, I'm not that good at playing any of his compositions yet. I played the game in Japanese, but the English dubbing didn't sound too bad from what I heard. I also discovered that the game can be played with 2 additional players during battle, my brothers and I had a blast with that little feature. I'm not going to completely immerse myself into the game until I finish Persona 3, which is nearing completion with each passing day. Well, until next time L8ter. I am just on a roll with finishing up these FUNI releases. This show falls under my very popular category of being downloaded via fansubs, but never watched. I've always admired the artwork of this particular series. I only viewed the opening and a few minutes of episode 1, so I can't exactly comment on how much of the stylish ambiance integrates into the plot. However, I CAN gawk over the suh-weet postcards released with each volume. Nice, Indeed.

I've been playing it since yesterday and I love how your "social links" determine how well you perform in battle. Well, I recently acquired the final 3 volumes of Gonzo's Solty Rei, and it feels good. I must say that it would feel even better to get some time to actually sit down and watch the show. I've heard pretty good things about the show. So, basically all I can judge this show by is word of mouth since I haven't even seen episode 1...I only seen the opening up to this point. Well, actually my birthday was Saturday, but does it really matter? I had a blast this weekend and it's definitely what I needed to lift my spirits since the beginning of this week was so rough. I was on a natural high the entire weekend. I went to a really cool steakhouse Sunday and there was this hot girl working there AND she wore glasses, I'm a sucker for girl with glasses. Shoot, I should have gotten her number, but it's okay because I WILL be going back. I'm currently in the process of giving myself the ultimate present which will come in the form of a suh-weet HDTV, but that won't be until another couple of weeks. Anyways, been playing Zelda (GC version) as I liked the Wii version,but not enough. I'm also getting together a game list for next month's pick-ups Blue Dragon being at the top lol.

Hello, everyone! Sheesh, I haven't posted since the 19th, but that doesn't mean that things have slowed down with me, in fact they've sped up. Yes, contrary to my beliefs, I was one of the unfortunate souls to venture out on (suspenseful music) BLACK FRIDAY!! This was my first time so I did not know what to expect, little did I know that my world was gonna get rocked. I awaken at 4:00 am and when I say "awaken" I mean screamed at and snatched from cousin's bed in my undies. I then ventured out in the wilderness and by "wilderness", I mean Wal-Mart parking in search of a bargain priced 52' HDTV. I was amazed so many people would be there standing with anticipation...soccer moms, dads with trucker hats and handlebar mustaches and little old ladies all stood in unison with one thing in common...KILL!!! I slowly made my way to the front of the line...I sensed evil lurking about the closer I got to the doors. Surprisingly, 45 minutes of waiting in the cold went by fast. I glanced at my watch and released there were just seconds until opening. The doors open I run with all my might to the 3rd position in line to get one of six coveted tickets for the TV. Once I arrive the woman tells me that aren't anymore tickets then I tell her that's impossible I was basically the first to arrive. She said that they were all gone, I sensed foul play. I later found out that Wal-Mart employees were holding the TVs for themselves which was against store policy.Well, several customer service complaints later I still haven't gotten my TV, but this fight is long from over Wal-Mart you hear me!!

What A Way 2 End A Wii-kend!

All bad puns aside, I was first in line to purchase my Wii @ Ebgames. There really wasn't too much of a hassle although the line quickly expanded once they started opening the UPS boxes that contained the consoles. It was really exciting to be honest, I mean all the gamers in the store took a serene moment of silence as we watched the Official Nintendo Wii clock countdown until midnight. It was beautiful man just beautiful.I've mostly been creating my Mii profile/avatar? I've also played a little Wii Sports to kill time until my games arrive. I may just get Trauma Center afterall since I've seen the reviews and R8's recommendation pretty much sealed the deal. I also got the first 3 seasons of Disney's Gummi Bears on DVD for Nostalgic purposes....I grew up watching that show(around late 80's and early 90's), so it's cool to see it again and show it to my little brothers. Oh yeah, the mag mostly talks about Casino Royale, of course, and it sucks more for me considering I probably can't go see it until Wednesday because I working everyday until then..sigh.

This thing is so small...it's no bigger than any of those boxsets in the background!

Deep Discount DVD or "DDD" as I call it (notice the D's in the title) are having their bi-annual 20% off sale. Everyone knows that entails spending copious amounts of money on DVDs,Blu-Ray,HD-DVDs, and *cough* UMD's. Alright, maybe the last one not so much, but I've already seen totals in the $1,000 range from some of the members @ the DVD Talk forums. I tried to show a bit more composure this year and ordered a bit lighter than usual, but that could be because the Wii streets this weekend. Here are my most recent pick-ups....I'll probably ease up the remainder of the year and put Video games back in the #1 spot instead of number #2.

I've been searching the web in hopes of finding an "ideal" video game shelf. My current game shelf is literally bursting at the seams and I'm stacking my games on the floor.I mean where the hell am I gonna put my Wii Games!? Oh Boy! I am exhausted....I've been pulling about 50+hours @ work, and the funny thing is that it's just now catching up with me. I haven't even had a chance to start on FFXII, but I have been watching the bonus disc in between naps.

I'm finding the Interviews and the Final Fantasy timeline featurettes to be surprisingly enjoyable. This is a rarity for me because I'm usually the first person to press the fast forward button when it comes to some times boring interviews. I don't know what it is, but for some reason I don't feel that I should start on this game until I at least finish a couple of games in my backlog....blah what am I talking about? That would take probably a year a or two, so I'll most likely start this on Tuesday or maybe Wednesday. I know the pictures are Crap-tastic, but I was half asleep when I took them lol.Oh yeah, for the record I guess the Ashe cover is starting to grow on me....go figure.

I got a bit of random tidbits to discuss..first of all I glad to say that I have finally completed Rockstar's Bully. The game was certainly more fun than I anticipated, and I admire how much work the developers put into it. I mean, what other game allows you to start a foodfight, or give students wedgies? Maybe now that I completed that I can get back on Yakuza which I highly doubt since FFXII is coming out next week.

I also have my DVD pick-ups for this week outta the way which include. Tsukuyomi~Moon Phase~ Vol.#1. The packaging for this show is top notch and the postcards, binder, and director interviews don't hurt either. I also aquired Negima Vol.#3 with a nice little figure (I don't know what the hell to do with the monkey that was included). Well...rounding out the the trio is Tenchi Muyo Ryo-OHKI Vol.#2, but I still haven't watched Vol.#1....I smell a marathon once Vol.#3 is released. I picked up Monster House because I simply am a sucker for anything CG.

Last bit of random Me happenings is that I was pleased to find out that Bandai Visual USA is releasing the original Gunbuster OVA. The release includes a 24-page booklet, and will be released on 3 discs, and did I mention it's remastered. Anyways where do I sign up?

Wow, my goodness....it certainly has been awhile since I last posted here. Hey, I wonder if anyone still reads this page? However, for those who don't know, I go by the alias of "Otaku Playboy", but nowadays I just go simply by "Playboy". This blog was my outlet to talk about my various anime excursions as well as my theatrical love life. Wait, I know you're thinking those two things don't have anything in common...but as you'll soon realize, they go hand in hand.

Anyhow, I shall once again start posting regularly....I still buy anime and videogames. I also still download fansubs and read manga. Greetings....yes I know my recent posts have been a bit sporadic, and I do apologize. You see I was in bit of a hurry when I posted those dreadfully dark pictures, but I assure that the next few will indeed be better. I have watched some of those titles, but not most of them...I am a busy guy y'know...(I'm kidding..or am I?).

Wow, my first

Stellvia from Media Play @ %40 off. Alas, the discount came at a price

since Media Play will be no more.This is most unfortunate. Media Play

is where I purchase my very first piece of Anime Media which was a

Dubbed VHS copy of Wrath of the Ninja (1996). It's going to be hard to let go.
